Virginia Competitive Cheerleading
I would like to begin by expressing our squad’s gratitude for your monetary support. Being a club sport at the University of Virginia is especially tough for us because cheerleading is such an expensive sport. We plan to recognize that this season was funded in part by your organization on our website in the near future (http://www.student.virginia.edu/cheer/). The purpose of your grant was to assist Virginia Competitive Cheerleading in funding cheerleading competitions. We ran into a few speed bumps during our season, so this offer was a big stress reliever. To improve our squad’s uniformity, we purchased seventeen warm-ups and had them embroidered for each member (our squad began with 17 members, but two girls withdrew their membership the week of our first competition). We wore these warm-ups the days of our competitions over our uniforms. Sixteen students attended the Cheer Ltd. Nationals at Canam Competition in Myrtle Beach, South Carolina (15 competed, 1 “coach”). Here we faced tough competition and placed 11th out of 12 squads, but we did our best so we had no regrets leaving the mat. Sixteen students also attended the Colonial Championship Competition in Williamsburg, Virginia (15 competed, 1 “coach”). At this competition, we really showed the judges what we were made of and walked away with a 1st place trophy and the Jazzy Jumps Award. Even after all of the hardships we faced this season, we are proud to say that we represented UVA well (attached you will find a few squad pictures). You can rest assured knowing that this grant was put to good use. Virginia Competitive Cheerleading greatly benefited from the U.Va Parents Committee’s assistance, and we hope to continue utilizing this amazing resource in the future.
Sincerely,
Virginia Competitive Cheerleading Executive Board
